About Raise Sheet

Raise Sheet is a weekly record of who's raising money for private real estate: who filed with the SEC, how much they report sold, and who's behind it.

There's a whole world of people who buy apartment buildings, storage facilities, and shopping centers with other people's money. Every raise leaves a filing. Nobody reads them, and no newspaper covers them. This is the business section for an industry that doesn't have one.

Three kinds of people read it. Firms that raise money for real estate deals use it to see who else is raising in their market. Investors use it to check a firm's filing history before they commit. Lenders, administrators, and lawyers use it to find new clients, because a new filing means a deal is underway.

It adds what the filings alone don't show. Each amendment is set against the filing it amends, so the new money is visible. A raise filed as several entities reads as one raise. The people behind the filings are matched across issues.

The sheet covers real estate only. It's built from the filings every week, and every line links to its source.

Raise Sheet is published by Upstream Logic, Shelburne, Vermont. Corrections and sponsorship inquiries go to justin@raisesheet.com.

Figures are as filed with the SEC and aren't verified. An offering amount is a ceiling, not money raised. Deals that never file with the SEC aren't seen. The sheet doesn't yet check whether a raise was announced in the press. Nothing here is investment advice or an offer of securities.
